104 - Good Session

104 - Good Session

I forgot to mention: the online session with Nicole Melpómene went very well last week. Although I had booked Nicole for an hour, I already had 230 images to reference after 30 minutes of working together. So I ended the session early as I needed some time off.

Nicole is very experienced and creative, so she had plenty of ideas for variations on the poses that I roughly choreographed.

It was somewhat tricky to direct her though. I had assumed I would be able to roughly demonstrate what I needed but of course the model needs to see their own image on camera in order to frame themselves correctly. So when I held up drawings or demonstrated, Nicole could hardly see anything on the postage stamp sized thumbnail of me.

Storyboarding all the poses would be useful, although I'm not necessarily familiar enough with the subtleties of movement to imagine the poses exactly.

This is a selection of poses from the session, that I will be drawing tomorrow, on top of my 'soft backgrounds'. I have kept the thumbnails very small as the images are not licenced for free usage.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
