118 - Tracing Time Part 3

 

I like the oversize limbs. Or perhaps I like the small heads? Depends on how you look at it.

I was excited to see this confident drawing by Françoise Gilot - beleagured one-time partner of Picasso. In her book "Life With Picasso" (highly recommended)  she described  how his mighty ego couldn't tolerate her leaving him. He punished her by having art dealers blacklist her work.

Interesting to consider how different the impact of the titles 'master' and 'mistress' are.


I loved seeing the close up marks on the paper: the almost invisible hidden lines and erased marks.
