152 - Cherry Menthol

At IKEA today, the toilets were 'brand scented' with something I would describe as cherry menthol. The aroma reminded me of trying out different chewing gums as a child. Everything in the store is designed to be nostalgic and homely. It works on me, as long as it's not too crowded and screamy.

The Southampton branch is a good one. Close to the railway station and easy to access, it teeters on the top level of a multi storey car park. From the restaurant you can see the whole industrial expanse of the port stretching out below in silver and grey.

Everyone loves the canteen. Some people spend all day lounging around in there. They serve up a perfect 1970s school dinner.

Daime bar pie. Mmmm.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
