153 - Palm oil

I'm not a big fan of candles. Tricksy things looking romantic and looking for trouble. Curtain burning, sleeve singeing sprites.

Palm oil consuming. Apparently IKEA sell super cheap candles, because they use cheap palm oil. This has negative consequences for the rainforest. This Rainforest Rescue page has a letter you can copy and paste to campaign for something more sustainable.

Here is IKEA's statement on palm oil.

I like IKEA and I hope they are genuine in what they say about using sustainable materials.

We can live without candles. But then we can live without almost everything we live with.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
