180 - This Year's Project Page

Drawing of woman with foreshortening by artist Frankie Sinclair

I've just added a page for this year's projects. I have made about five of these tiled works and I've just uploaded the first. This was the easiest to document as the small tiles fitted on my A4 scanner. The others will be trickier to document. Either I will have to 'stitch' two scans together for each image that doesn't quite fit on my scanner, or I will have to buy some decent lighting to do studio shots.

I'm in a bit of a quandary about whether to break up the sets as single items (or smaller sets) or not - to make them more affordable for friends who are interested in my work.

'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush' as they say. I'm in two minds as part of me wants to keep groups of images together. Edits that work. But on the other hand, I also conceived of the composition of the work as being flexible.

I think I can go with the flow, take opportunities to sell if they arise (since right now they are rare) and produce more work to fill the gaps.

It's better to let go than cling onto things. There is always more where that came from. The work tends to get better in any case. I can cling onto things feeling like that one is a 'best' whilst knowing I've got it in me to do better always.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
