262 - Young Gallery

The Young Gallery in Salisbury deserves a High Street frontage. It's hidden away on the first floor above the library but something of a treasure. Part of it (the entrance and Gallery 1) feels institutional: slightly dilapidated, but lively with community events. Galleries 2 and 3 are plusher and you can wander in and view a mixture of works by famous artists and respected locals. The gallery holds a large museum collection and they curate shows to complement and showcase the collection.

Today I enjoyed a Lucian Freud portrait, a Sir Howard Hodgkin painting and a drawing by Allen Jones.

You can join the Gallery to support it, and today there was an exhibition of member's artwork in Gallery 1.

This was my favourite:

Mother Earth Goddess by Eli Eisenhauer - a ceramic sculpture.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
