The best Christmas decorations these days are the ones that re-use materials.

Orange Clove Flowers

Materials and equipment

  • 1 orange
  • Cloves
  • Needle and thread
  • Pair of sharp scissors

Method

  1. Cut in half and squeeze an orange, and drink the delicious fresh juice.
  2. Scrape out the remaining flesh, leaving the two halves of the skin.
  3. Draw flower shapes on the skin and cut them out with small, sharp scissors.
  4. Poke cloves into the flowers.
  5. Thread strings through the flowers with a needle and thread.
  6. Place in a warm, dry place for a few days until they are dry and hard and ready to use.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
