I bought one or two batches of old postcards and greetings cards. I've had them for a while and I dip into them when I'm looking for something to send for a birthday or similar.


They are fascinating. I love the vintage greetings cards for the illustration style and the antique ones for the history trip.
There's a certain British dryness and habit of deprecation that stands out. (Well, I'm assuming the writers were British).

The lion and unicorn emblem means the company was appointed as a special supplier to the King and Queen.
I love the formal instructions. I wonder if there was any penalty for using the margins 'FOR CORRESPONDENCE'.
Some of the punctuation is very perplexing. Why is Mr Brown, Mr "Brown"? And what are all the little loops about?

1922 though. Over a hundred years ago. Very poignant.
