336 - Habit Sticks

There's a Can Do key locked into a planned habit. The cue is remembering the commitment. The behaviour is honouring the commitment and the reward is a feeling of relief and control at meeting the commitment. Relief from a self-imposed, chosen stress. Writing 365 blog posts in a year provides a tiny stress. I meet the commitment and feel relief, and stability. A tiny brace has been added to the structure of my life.

Writing regular blog posts on my website was a practice I never got round to. Now I'm familiar with the way in. The trick is not to over think. I don't have to resolve an essay of thoughts. But when I come and go daily, I'm in the right place to share interesting thoughts and news when they're happening.

Apply the 5 second rule. Remember the task and act quickly.

Only 29 days to go until this commitment comes to an end. Since I have new daily commitments this year, which involve increasing physical stamina, it's going to be a relief to wrap up the daily blog posts. I have issues with fatigue related to age, and a past illness. So exercise can really wipe me out and finding the mental energy at the end of the day to post can be hard.

But it's easy to write a blog post when you're procrastinating...
