354 - Vintage Drafting Table

Phoar yes. Love these.

Back in the 90s at art college, I nabbed an excellent one. The floating ruler was missing, but that was good, because I used it as a flat table as well as a drawing board. The beauty of it! You could just pull a lever and it would swing-glide, high or low, any angle of tilt.

There were some wonderful anachronisms at Central St Martins. Over at the Southampton Row branch, in the basement, there were corridors full of little glass and wood panelled rooms containing stacks of old printing blocks: wooden bricklets with reverse letters on them. They were abandoned, dusty. I wonder if they are still there?
