45 - Eyes of Love and Eyes of Evil.

45 - Eyes of Love and Eyes of Evil.

I don't normally like taxidermy, as the creatures appear so stilted. But I loved this magnificent dog and his lofty emu friend. He was huge - a Great Dane? He has such a loving look. I couldn't believe he was stuffed with straw. He lived in a bawdy world but he held his head high and kept his counsel.

The above is a detail from this larger painting "Le Homme à le poupée" by Jean Veber. 1896

These were exhibits at the Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée

in a show called "In the ring. Clowns, Pierrots, and acrobats". There were also clown ladders, sequin encrusted Ziggy costumes and a fascinating wooden caravan of old.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
