66 - Missing Puzzle Piece - Composition Squares

As I mentioned yesterday, I decided that I like these two sets of square drawings with coloured backgrounds.

They are very, very busy and full on with the colours. I need to make space between the two sets on the page here.

The figure on the bottom row here has a messed up face. So I've been trying to draw a replacement today. It's tricky because the way I draw varies slightly depending on how I feel each time. I'm trying to limit the variation by choosing the same tools (size of pen nib for example) but it's really hard to make one that fits.

I don't want to spend too much time on it. I could just skip the bottom row and have a 6 square set.

I started out today by drawing a whole set very roughly to try and loosen up. But the black and white 'replacement' sketches I created today still don't have the dynamic of the ones above. I think my mistake was to give myself too much time. I should have set a clock and then the urgency would create the dynamism. The warm up ones have more dynamic because I created them quickly.

Here I've tried the replacement images in the set (the ones in black and white). Once I've got some I like, I will try adding the same type of background.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
