90 - In a Varnish Flow

90 - In a Varnish Flow

This morning I varnished all the squares which will be used to complete the new artwork. It went much better than the last attempt (see blog post 77).

My clothes drying rack uses a wire shelf system which was perfect for drying them on.

It was well worth buying the special varnish brush, which can handle the thick, sticky varnish and spread it nice and thin.

The varnish protects the watercolour from:

  1. Ultra violet (UV) light.
  2. Finger marks.
  3. Water damage (splash proof).

I'm so pleased with the quality! It's very, very hard to tell which pictures have been varnished and which haven't. There's a touch more depth to the colour and that's it. The pictures are protected without losing any detail or brightness.

Here's the video of all the action.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
