91 - Sizing Up

91 - Sizing Up

I removed the wee magnety squares I'd stuck on: it's because I need to stack the squares when I glue on the pictures, compressing them with an even weight while they dry. The magnets would have created a gap, preventing that even pressure across the surface.

That done, I painted each square with acrylic gloss medium. This acts as a 'size' to seal the wood surface and protect it from damp. Much easier working with a water based medium. They were touch dry quickly but I need to wait a few days before the size has hardened off fully.

This brand is available in a large bottle from Hobbycraft which isn't too far from me. I cycled over the other day to collect it. Apparently the gloss provides a better seal than a matte because it's less porous and dries harder. So there you go.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
