98 - Bedazzled NASTY

98 - Bedazzled NASTY

As I mentioned in my post yesterday I fell into a hole on a hard drive last night. This morning I'm feeling a little the worse for wear.

I sometimes get anxiety symptoms triggered by hyper-focusing and that happened, after an opportunity popped up on one of my social feeds: The Exeter Contemporary Open. The deadline is today at 23:59. I was already working to a deadline of 17 June for the Trinity Buoy Drawing Prize and the new deadline interrupted that work flow.

So I tried to do too much. On paper, it didn't seem that much but my brain locks on and becomes hyperactive. I really needed a nice restful weekend. After a nap yesterday around 6pm, I decided to resume work on the zig zag piece but I just couldn't draw properly and gave up after a couple of hours.

However, instead of doing something relaxing - like meditation or yoga - I dug out that old hard drive in a search for a old image. I found part (probably over 100 photos) of my street photography archive from 2011. Another story for another day but it was the worst thing I could have done. My mind immediately started 'working' on editing those images.

^ One of the fashion / street photography images I was looking at last night. It got photo bombed by carrier bag man, but I do love main man's NASTY glasses and graffiti outfit.

^ I made a series of photos outside PRIMARK near Marble Arch in London.

At 12:20pm today I am meeting Nicole Melpómene online for a choreography and screenshots session and I need to update my CV and artists statement (yeuch). It's taken at least a month to secure that slot in her busy diary so I can't reschedule it.

The sense of overwhelm from all the work I've created over the years and never shown can get a bit much.

Anyway, having done some Qigong this morning and the french window is open with the birds singing, I'm feeling not too bad. I aim to clear this lot by around 2.30pm and then kick back.

Macmillan Cancer Support

This year I challenged myself to write one blog post per day, for 365 days. The project began on 3 March 2025.

I have linked this challenge to a charity fundraiser, because I want to look outside as well as inwards and contribute to society. It also holds me accountable and adds motivation to write everyday.

Macmillan is an organistation that offers powerful help to anyone (in the UK) who has been affected by cancer.
